Minnesota Takes Casualties, Wins

Battle Over Laguna

AL Season 5 Standings

The Minnesota Monarchs lose fearsome starter Walter Johnson in game 5 and are pounded by Legend bats, but bounce back to take series 4 games to 2 in a clash between AL division leaders. Laguna came into the series with one of the league's best pitching staffs, but had to contend with one of the top slugging teams in Minnesota. It would be the Minnesota pitching that prevailed though, as Johnny Sain, Eddie Plank and Claude Passeau got complete game victories.
